HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
Hunters Specialties, Inc. a leading manufacturer and supplier of branded hunting products for mass merchant and sporting goods retailers is seeking a Human Resources Assistant in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Provides administrative human resources support to employees of Hunters Specialties. Prepares bi-weekly payroll and assists in the administration of various benefit plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•End to end processing of company payroll.
•Enrolls employees in the following benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, voluntary life, short-term and long-term disability, flex spending, and 401k. Coordinates enrollments, changes, and cancellations with carriers as they occur. Notifies ADP regarding COBRA eligibility when employees terminate. Liaison with Brokers.
•Assists in managing the open-enrollment period. Arranges distribution of materials from carriers and assists in communicating changes to employees. Processes changes within deadlines.
•Reviews and approves monthly insurance bills for accuracy.
•Resolves discrepancies with various carriers, payroll, and the company. Resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives. Refers difficult or very complex complaints to Manager as needed. Keeps management advised of potential problem areas and recommends/implements solutions as appropriate.
•Utilizes effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills to answer employees’ questions pertaining to payroll, benefits, and other human resource issues.
•Maintains and organizes employee personnel files, medical files, and financial files. Updates employee personnel files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.
•Maintains leave of absence records in compliance with organizational procedures.
•Assist with internal and external recruiting process. Liaison with recruitment agencies.
•Conforms with all safety rules, uses appropriate safety equipment, and uses sound judgment determining how to perform each task safely. Prepares agendas and attends monthly safety meetings. Prepares annual OSHA 300 safety report.
•Performs employee orientation.
•Assists with preparation of HR related policies, procedures, and keeping record functions.
•Processing and maintaining all workers compensation claims, unemployment requests, FMLA and leaves of absences.
•Maintains records for EEO-1 and completes annual report.
•Track employee training.
•Other duties may be assigned.
Related Bachelor’s Degree required; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ADP experience required. Workforce Now v8 preferred. Experience with applicant tracking systems. PHR certification is a plus but not required. Excellent benefit package available. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required. SUPPLY CHAIN ENGINEER
Hunters Specialties, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of branded hunting products for mass merchant and sporting goods retailers, is seeking a Supply Chain Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA.
The primary role of this position to provide hands-on involvement regarding quality, continuous improvement, supplier selection and management and purchased parts qualification in support of strategic and policy deployment objectives. Ensure that Hunters Specialties' internal and external manufacturing consistently meets the needs of its customers by producing and delivering quality products when needed by providing quality and lean guidance to manufacturing support teams. Assure that products meet customer quality, regulatory, and legal requirements. Domestic and international travel of 30-50%. Chinese Mandarin a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Implements Lean tools to achieve the company’s strategic quality objectives.
•Drives the implementation of quality related policy deployment objectives.
•Provides input and recommendations for the identification and selection of improvement projects.
•Assists in the development of action plans in support of quality related policy deployment objectives and improvement projects.
•Coordinates and/or facilitates improvement project teams.
•Assists Purchasing in developing and maintaining supplier quality objectives.
•Conducts Supplier Assessments and assists key suppliers in their continuous improvement objectives
•Monitors quality metrics and progress toward quality goals including internal, incoming, and external
quality and complaint handling process.
•Recommends test and inspection equipment as required to achieve quality goals.
•Assists in selecting quality measures and setting up quality reporting systems.
•Assists in the analysis and evaluation of data for improvement opportunities.
•Leads the Quality function in the area of First Article and Incoming Inspection.
•Maintains effective communications with R &D Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources and Finance functions.
•Applies quality tools and statistical analysis for increasing quality performance.
-Process-based Problem Solving skills following, DBS Problem Solving, 8-D, 5-Why, etc.
-Ability to transfer these skills and perform as coach/mentor
•Possesses a thorough knowledge and application of computer software systems to effectively communicate production data
•Lean program management experience following Lean-Sigma, Toyota Production System, Practical Process Improvement, Danaher Business System, etc.
-5-S program implementation and management
-Ability to develop processes capitalizing on available and new technology
-Extensive Value Stream and Business Process mapping experience
•May provide direct supervision over other quality team members
•Leads technical problem solving teams aimed at improving a process or product
•Effectively coaches employees for personal and professional development
•4-year degree required with focus in engineering or supply chain preferred, or 3-5 years experience in Quality functions
•Solid background in lean principles: 5-S, P-FMEA, D-FMEA, 8-D, 5-Why, Kanban, VMI, etc.
•Formal training in quality planning, tools and analysis.
•In-depth knowledge of quality principles and technical tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, design for six sigma, control charts and other quality methodologies) with the ability to train and provide consultation.
•Has completed or is willing and able to complete Green Belt Six Sigma Training.
•3-5 years experience in a development, manufacturing or quality environment including experience in leading cross-functional teams
•Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes preferred
•Knowledge of PowerPoint software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office Word Processing software.

Responsible for picking, assembling and preparing customer orders for shipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Accurately assemble orders and prepare goods for shipments. Maintain knowledge of packaging procedures and customer guidelines.
•Pack and examine outgoing shipments to ensure they are accurate and meeting customer’s specifications.
•Responsible for reading and understanding the work instructions assigned to this job and performing them to the standards set by the Supervisor.
•Report damaged items and out-of-stock items to Supervisor.
•Complete necessary paperwork accurately and efficiently.
•Work cooperatively with co-workers and other departments to achieve customer and company goals.
•Ability to lift and move up to 25-50 pounds on a regular basis; safely operate pallet jack.
•Forklift experience/certification preferred.

PRODUCT INNOVATION MANAGER
Hunters Specialties, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of branded hunting products for mass merchant and sporting goods retailers, is seeking a Product Innovation Manager in Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Product Innovation Manager is responsible for directing a team to design and develop new products to ensure the company remains an industry leader. This position is responsible for working with external vendors to develop new products as well as internal manufacturing facilities. Must have a solid understanding of patents and the patent the process, materials, engineering principles, and ability to research and understand government regulations as needed. This position requires 10%-20% travel and some international travel may be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and maintain the company’s 3D software package
• Investigate and evaluate feasibility of new materials, processes, and technologies
• Design and develop new products using 3D design software
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings and needed for manufacturing
• Lead design reviews of new products as needed
• Define tolerances and perform tolerance stack up analysis for new products
• Design product for manufacturability
• Develop and maintain detailed product specifications, drawings, and bills of materials
• Determine tooling requirements and approve tooling
• Initiate vendor quotes for new products
• Approve new product prior to production
• Develop new product testing criteria, conducts testing as needed, and maintain test reports
• Review packaging copy for technical accuracy
• Design and test new product packaging
• Responsible for instruction manual content as needed
• Provide engineering support to resolve quality issues as needed
• Provide technical product information for catalog/spec book
• Review new designs and evaluate for patentability
• Work with legal council as needed to patent products and manage companies intellectual properties
• Field test products to verify design specifications are met
• Administer field testing program for new products
• Ensure all new products meet government regulations and standards
• Direct and manage employees as assigned
• Develop and maintain departmental Budgets
Four year engineering degree; or ten years consumer product engineering experience in the outdoor industry or comparable consumer durables industry and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
