I live and hunt in southern Wisconsin, right in the heart of the eradication zone infected with CWD. In fact one of the deer that tested positive was taken off of the same track of land that I hunt deer on. Well with the CWD threat we were given plenty of opportunities to kill deer this year, and I decided that I was going to do my part and harvest every deer that I could.

By November 3, 2002 I had killed two deer already, my dad had two and my cousin had one taken the previous day. I got to my stand and kicked up a doe on the way in, but didn't take the shot because I was after a buck and didn't have a really good shot at her. I put up some BucRut scent wafers about 40 yards below my stand and then in a semi circle around my stand. I then climbed up into my stand and started waiting for a deer.

About two hours later I heard some deer below and to my right about 200 yards away. I turned and saw a doe running around and right behind her was a 11-pointer with about a 16" spread, which is a monster for this area. I got turned around for the shot but didn't take it because he was running and I wanted to make sure I put him down clean and not wound him. He got too far below me for a shot and then disappeared into the brush.

I was a little dissapointed but realized he was chasing a doe, and therefore vulnerable. I pulled out my True Talker and did some dominant buck grunts. About two minutes later I heard deer moving in the leaves again and turned around again. I saw a doe again and right behind her was another deer. They walked out right at the pond right where the scent wafer was. I couldn't tell what the deer behind her was but I was figuring on it being the same buck I had just seen.

About a minute later it stepped up to the scent wafer and I saw it had horns, which in my area any buck is good and definitely a shooter. I put my crosshairs on him and saw he had a small horn, but I had only killed one buck before and that was with a bow, so I wanted one with a rifle. I touched off my 30-06 and I saw water splash, I knew I had missed it. The buck turned and ran right at me, and stopped 10 yards behind my stand in brush. I shot and the deer jumped and got really low to the ground. He went 30 yards spraying blood and then layed down like he was going to take a nap.

I was so nervous that I radioed my dad to tell him I had just taken a buck and to help calm me down so I didn't fall out of my tree. I got down and went up to him, and the whole time I knew I had a buck, but I thought I would walk up and find a doe laying there. I just couldn't believe I had taken a buck just that quick.

I walked up and lifted his head out of a bush so I could count him up, and saw he only had one antler. I was a little surprised but still happy, and then I saw the other antler. Rather than growing up, he had a drop beam that went down towards his chin. It was pitch black and formed a ball about the size of a golf ball at the end. I told my dad I had another wallhanger; I mounted my 5 pointer last year with a bow because he was my first buck. Dad was like "you can't, they cost a lot," and I was like this one has to go on the wall!!!

I drug him down the hill out of the woods so I could field dress him. It turns out I hit him perfect, right through both lungs. My dad got down and started walking towards me and kicked up a deer and it started towards the pond where I was. I got over there and saw it was a spike. Well I had another buck tag still so I put my crosshairs on his shoulder and fired, he jumped and ran off. I walked over and couldn't find blood, but thought I hit him anyways. It turned out that I missed but it was a tricky shot on a semi trotting deer. My buck turned out to be a rare nontypical 3 point and weighed 220 pounds field dressed.

I have to give credit where credit is due, your Scentaway Spray and Scent Eliminating System killed this deer. Back in 1999 I bought my True Talker, and have killed several deer because of it, two of which are bucks. If you ever doe hunt, this deer call is awesome, it sounds like a fawn down to a tee, and really brings in all deer year round.

Before last year me and my dad were skeptical about deer scent and lures, but then I got ahold of your 2 Drop Supreme and Scent Wicks. My 5 point that I mentioned earlier was taken at seven yards as he was licking the Scent Wick. I went five years without killing a deer with a bow, and the very year I start using Hunter Specialties scent I see deer everywhere. This year I started doing everything you recommend, the entire scent eliminating system, and I am proud to say I killed four deer this year.

Another weird thing is that the next Saturday after I shot my buck, my dad shot a seven point from the exact same spot that came in to BucRut scent wafers hanging on a buck decoy. He came in and saw the decoy buck, then started to think whether he could take him when my dad put him down. Right after my dad shot that buck, another buck came right to the same spot but dad had to let him go because he didn't have another buck tag!!!

We believe that your products are killing these deer, we're just letting the arrows fly and pulling the triggers on the rifles. Your products are number one, all of them, everything from H.S. Strut calls, which are the very best, down to your scent products and predator calls. I am 18 so the money I spend on hunting products have to go towards good ones, so I buy from Hunter Specialties and urge others to do the same.

There is one major flaw with your products though, all of them. In two years I have spent over $700 on taxidermy for my deer heads, and my dad has spent over $400 on turkey mounting from his 22 1/4 pound tom with 10 inch beard and 7/8 inch spurs. This year he got a 21 pounder with an 11 inch beard and inch spurs. You guys need to start doing taxidermy services for all the animals you guys are responsible for the deaths of.

I'm putting on some pictures of my drop beam, my 5 point from last year and my dad's seven point that all fell for your products. That is three bucks in two seasons, that is more than we have ever killed before. We used to average one buck every five years but not since we found your scents and scent elimination system. Keep up the awesome work!!
