Ross Allen Gardner-Greenville, MI

This is just my short story of this year's bow hunting so far...to start off let me tell you about my history. I am a newer hunter with a bow. I started out about three years ago just getting the hang of a bow. But this year I was getting serious about my new found love of the bow. I have hunted for years with a firearm but never was I as into hunting as I am with the bow.

To keep this short I got my first buck with a bow this past Saturday!! I got to the woods just about day break and had no more then set down in my tree (not a stand but a downed tree about 10 feet off the ground) and got settled in when I heard a very strong rutting buck call from about 100 to 200 yards out. Though I had only been in my tree for about 5 or 10 minutes I decided to try calling him in. I gave out a few rut calls with my True Talker and set back in my tree to see what happened. After about 5 minutes or so I see not one but 2 bucks coming up the deer run toward my tree--the first, about 10 or 12 yards ahead of the second, and being about a 4 or 6 point, the second one being much bigger bodied and a wider rack!! The first one cut off behind me and the second one the (bigger one) walked up within 15 yards and stopped!! Giving me the perfect broadside shot, I hit him about 6 inches behind the heart, taking out both lungs. He ran about 60 yards and dropped!

I just want to thank you and the "TRUE TALKER" call for my first kill with a bow and one of the biggest bucks of my life. This is a great buck, locally scored at Hill Top Sports at 117 points. With a 19&1/4 inch outside spread, 18 inch inside, he is a great first buck for bow hunting taken in Montcalm County, Michigan with my York Avanti 2000 bow and the True Talker call.
